Terminal 6 S.A.
In view of the constantly growing export activity, AGD set the priority objective of an efficient port facility. To this end, a group of oilseed crushers entered into an association in 1985 to build Terminal 6 S.A., leader in port and industrial service quality, committed to the growth of the exporting sector.
This Agricultural-Industrial Elevator Complex, located on a 320 hectare plot of land, occupies a wide band of the Parana river waterfront in Puerto General San Martín, Province of Santa Fe area, an important region where the harvests of the Argentine Fertile Pampas converge.
Terminal 6, the first Argentine private port, has facilities enabling the storage of up to 950 thousand tons of dry agriproducts and 110 thousand tons of vegoils, an infrastructure for discharging 450 wagons and over a thousand trucks a day, operating jointly with the Belgrano narrow gauge railway and all the standard gauge railroads, through Nuevo Central Argentino (NCA) railroad. It can rapidly load grain bulkcarrier ships up to 275 meters in length on each of its two berths at a rate of 3,200 tons/hr and tanker ships at the rate of 600 tons/hr.
It has six truck discharging platforms servicing more than a thousand units a day, two wagon discharging lines, and a barge unloading facility to receive goods from the north of Argentina and the Paraná/Paraguay waterway at a rate of 600 tons/hr.
This important private port offers the safeguards of permanent weight and quality checks, specially designed to guarantee high reliability and good service to the different surveying companies appointed by buyers and sellers to supervise loading operations.
Thanks to its modern installations, provided with computerized and automated processes, Terminal 6 S.A. is the largest port for simultaneous loading and unloading, with a record operational turnover of 28 different products in one month, including 1.3 million tons discharged and almost 1 million tons shipped. All the dry cargo production of the group is shipped from this facility.
