Carbon credits:

On April 9th, 2007, Aceitera General Deheza S.A. became the first Argentine company from the agri-food sector to register carbon credits, also known as carbon bonus or green bonus, before the Secretariat of the United Nations Convention on Climate Change, under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), in the Kyoto Protocol framework.

The registered project is one of electric generation with biomass, peanut shell and sunflower, with the denomination Bio Energy in General Deheza.

The proposed emission reduction is of 30,961 tones of carbon dioxide (CO2) equivalent per year during 21 year. The project can be checked at the United Nations web page: http://cdm.unfccc.int/Projects/DB/DNV-CUK1171603357.56/view, registered under number 0950.
